The George Lucas Educational Foundation is dedicated to improving the K-12 learning process by using digital media to document, disseminate, and advocate for innovative, replicable strategies that prepare students to thrive in their future education, careers, and adult lives.

Kids today—no previous generation has experienced anything like the current pace of transformational societal change. Yet, in light of extraordinary advancements in how we interact with one another and the world, our system of education has been frustratingly slow to adapt.

We all know that K-12 education can be better, but many of us don’t know what better looks like. We recognize that for innovations to spread, educators and parents, as well as business and community leaders, must first see and understand the changes at hand. In 1991, The George Lucas Educational Foundation was created to address this issue.
